"A good model to follow"

For the second consecutive year, the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) has acknowledged our LUT website and e-newsletter and has done so in a big way! Last week, NYSUT announced the winners of its 2017 Communications Award Competition. Our website, www.LevittownTeachers.com, earned First Place amongst similar publications.

The LUT also won an award for Best Artwork for the exceptional posters produced during our "We Care About Our Children" campaign from the spring of 2016. Our newsletter, The Levittown Teacher, also received an award for General Excellence. In their comments about our website, NYSUT judges described www.LevittownTeachers.com as a, "Very strong site with excellent information presented in an engaging way that puts focus on members and the local." "A very good model for others to follow."

NYSUT judges described our award winning artwork as, "... a delightful graphic that is well designed, colorful and puts the focus on students." The NYSUT judges described The Levittown Teacher e-newsletter, as, "... a bright, e-publication that balances important news with color photos of members." "It combines news you can use with information about the changes in national leadership, and the dangerous trends of profit-oriented private schools and colleges."

Over the past two years, the LUT has raised the bar in terms of its online communications with its membership. The LUT has done so in cooperation with UCOMM Media Group, an organization with extensive expertise in website design and digital communications.

"We are proud to see that the hard work that the communications team at LUT and UCOMM are being recognized for the work that was done on the LUT site and in The Levittown Teacher," said Kris LaGrange of UCOMM Media Group. "They get us good, current articles to run and provide us with information that they feel their members would like and they are constantly finding new ways to get their members involved. They are a perfect fit to the UCOMM team. The honor is all theirs and they deserve this award." - Written by Joe Romano of the Levittown United Teachers
