Labor Day, A Strike & Christmas

UCOMM Communications gets the job done!

ImageOur last post was back in July, so where have we been?  We have been working hard for our clients and investing in methods and practices that help our clients communicate effectively and efficiently.  Since July we invested in developing UCOMM Radio, and its success has been a partnership between UCOMM clients, labor union allies and altruistic vendors. UCOMM Radio is on 2 mainstream FM station on Long Island, and reaches over 100,000 listeners a month.  We are working on syndication and show length development, and our message is getting out there with humor and style.

We have been developing press relations, and recently worked with the 250,000 member Long Island Federation of Labor on a Labor Day 2011 Op Ed. Some of the clients ran radio ads reminding listeners of the true meaning of Labor Day, and UCOMM Radio did a “station takeover”, highlighting the hard work and dedication of our clients.

The summer months were greeted with a massive labor dispute where 3 UCOMM clients went on strike for 8 days against Verizon. Our communications structure helped keep the membership informed on a daily basis. It was an extremely busy time for us, but because we developed stricture and order for our clients in the dissemination of getting information “up and out”, we were able to help our clients get the job done.

The Communications Workers of America Local 1104 ran an ad campaign on WFAN, the most listened to radio station in the world in the fall. Then we kept the momentum going as we ran a series of Holiday Radio ads from a number of different clients.

During this entire time, we kept our clients websites crisp, clean and updated, performed some charity work, created hundreds of professional emails, and still found some time to do some client development. It was a busy time, but that is why we are here.
